You Deserve to Feel Great. I’m Here to Help.

My Background

I am a registered psychologist in Alberta and have been practicing in the field of mental health since 2016. I specialize in supporting individuals who have experienced traumatic events move through the process of healing and recovery; in particular, those people who are experiencing symptoms of complex trauma (C-PTSD). In addition, I also have a great deal of experience working with people who are experiencing anxiety-related disorders, attachment wounds, and issues related to self-esteem or confidence.

Thank you for taking the time to consider working with me.

Katie's Areas of Strength

  • Do you find yourself constantly falling into the same unhealthy relationship patterns and feeling stuck in a cycle you can't seem to break?
  • Do you feel like your thoughts and emotions are too much to handle, leaving you overwhelmed and exhausted?
  • Maybe you’re worn out by your inner critic constantly putting you down and making you feel like you're never good enough?
  • Have you lost your self-confidence or find it hard to feel happy and enjoy things you used to?

If you answered yes to one or more of these, you are like many of Katie's clients. Katie offers therapy for individual adults and older adolescents (15+) experiencing one or more of the following issues:

  • Trauma & PTSD
  • Complex Trauma
  • Attachment Issues / Codependency
  • Self-Esteem & Confidence Issues
  • Anxiety
  • Mild to Moderate Depression
  • Internal Family Systems Therapy

  • Grief
  • People Pleasing
  • Perfectionism
  • Shame & Guilt
  • ADHD
  • Stress Management
  • Dissociation

More About Katie

Katie started Sentience Counselling Services in Calgary to bring together therapists who care deeply about providing high-quality, ethical, and accessible online counselling services to Albertans.

Katie started her journey as a psychologist specializing in complex mental health issues, which supported her in developing strong skills in working with trauma and associated symptoms, such as issues with self-confidence, anxiety, and attachment injuries. Therapy offered by Katie is typically tailored to your needs following an initial intake assessment. Together, you will decide on a treatment approach that fits you based on what difficulties you are personally experiencing, your goals for change, your experience with counselling, Katie's professional guidance, and what feels right for you.

Katie primarily works from an internal family systems (IFS) perspective, integrating somatic-based techniques, accelerated resolution therapy, somatic EMDR, cognitive behavioural therapy, and mindfulness. She is deeply passionate about IFS and believes in the effectiveness of this approach to support lasting healing for those who are dealing every day with the after-effects of trauma. Many of Katie's clients have shared that they have done years of therapy and learned great skills and strategies for the management of anxiety or mood issues, however, most come to Katie to process and move past deep emotional wounds and patterns that seem to be operating subconsciously and are tough to change.

What clients seem to appreciate most about Katie is her caring nature and non-judgmental attitude, as well as her ability to create a grounded space to safely process trauma and work with difficult and painful issues.
