The Value of Clinical Consultation
Clinical consultation offers space to slow down, reflect, and think more clearly about your clinical work.
Whether you’re developing your use of Internal Family Systems (IFS), strengthening experiential skills, or working with more complex presentations, consultation can help bridge the gap between understanding a model and applying it in real sessions.
Together, we can explore case conceptualization, therapeutic impasses, therapist internal responses, and the moment-to-moment process unfolding in the room.
Internal Family Systems (IFS) & Clinical Consultation for Therapists
I offer consultation for therapists who want more clarity and confidence in their work—whether you’re developing your use of Internal Family Systems (IFS), strengthening foundational counselling skills, or learning how to work more effectively with complex client presentations.
This is a space to look closely at real sessions, sort through what’s not working, and build a way forward that feels both grounded and practical.
Who This Is For
- Registered psychologists, provisional psychologists, social workers, and counsellors
- Therapists early in their careers building confidence and structure in sessions
- Clinicians integrating Internal Family Systems (IFS) into their work
- Practitioners working with trauma, attachment, or complex client presentations
- Therapists who feel stuck, uncertain, or pulled in different directions in session
Internal Family Systems (IFS) Consultation
For therapists using Internal Family Systems (IFS), consultation focuses on helping you apply the model more clearly and effectively in real sessions.
We work through actual clinical material, with attention to both the client’s system and your own internal responses as the therapist.
Common areas of focus include:
- Case conceptualization using the IFS model
- Working with protectors, exiles, and Self-energy
- Navigating polarization, blending, and system resistance
- Supporting clients with complex trauma and dissociation
- Managing therapeutic impasses
- Strengthening confidence in leading parts work sessions
Clinical & Process-Oriented Consultation
In addition to IFS-specific consultation, I offer support for therapists who are developing their core clinical skills and learning how to work more experientially.
This may include:
- Moving from content-based to process-based therapy
- Developing attunement to somatic, emotional, and implicit client material
- Structuring sessions while staying flexible and responsive
- Managing therapist internal responses in-session
- Building confidence in moment-to-moment clinical decision-making
Approach
Consultation is collaborative, direct, and grounded in what actually happens in the room. The focus is on practical application rather than theory alone.
- Clear, straightforward feedback
- Work with real clinical material
- Attention to both therapist and client systems
- Support in developing your own way of working
Consultation is available to therapists across Alberta and Canada (virtual).
Who You’ll Be Working With
I’m a Registered Psychologist in Alberta and the founder of Sentience Counselling Services. I’ve been working clinically for over 10 years, primarily with trauma, attachment, dissociation, and complex client presentations.
I’ve been immersed in Internal Family Systems (IFS) work for over seven years and have completed Level 1 and Level 2 training. I also regularly serve as a Program Assistant for IFS trainings, which allows me to stay closely connected to the model, continue learning alongside other therapists, and remain actively engaged in the broader IFS community.
I try to create a consultation space that feels thoughtful, collaborative, and genuinely human. My style tends to be direct, grounded, and fairly laid back. I want therapists to feel like they can think out loud, ask honest questions, bring in the moments they feel stuck or uncertain, and talk openly about the realities of doing this work.
Outside of therapy, I’m someone who values connection, humour, nature, movement, and the kinds of everyday moments that help us feel more like ourselves again. I wanted the photos here to reflect a little of the human being behind the professional role.
Alongside my clinical work, I continue to engage in my own ongoing IFS work, which I believe matters deeply in this field. The more awareness we have of our own systems, the more steadiness, flexibility, and clarity we can bring into the room with clients. I’m currently working toward certification within the IFS model.
